When reading the first half of Mary Shelly’s novel Frankenstein we are shown the life of Victor Frankenstein. Victor, the scientist who creates the monster that is commonly given his name, is the character who’s childhood is narrated in the first few chapters. Even though the main and titular character is Victor Frankenstein and this conundrum with the monster he creates the beginning of the novel followed a man named Robert Walton on his journey through the ocean to the North Pole. He writes letters to his sister while on his journey about being lonely and wanting to have a companion to enjoy life with. This relates to Frankenstein and his life as he  craves having a friend in life and his eventual creation of his monster.

When Victor when to school it was natural for him to explore his relationship with others and divulge deeper into his search for a companion in life.
