"The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allan Poe, is about a man's deadly revenge on one of his friends who insulted him. The story is told from the murderer's point of view. It takes place in Italy, during the carnival. The narrator, Montresor, without giving the details, explains that he has a grudge to settle with Fortunato, who insulted him. Both men being wine connoisseurs, Montresor persuades Fortunato to go with him into his wine vault underground by promising him a fine bottle of Amontillado wine.
As the two make their way to the catacombs, Fortunato doesn't feel his friend will betray him. Fortunato is ill and struggles with a severe cough. Surprisingly, Montresor urges his friend to turn around. Fortunato says "I won't die of a cough," he continues with Montresor.
When the men finally reach the base of the crypt, Montresor is under fire from bricks and mortar. He chains Fortunato to the wall and locks him alive.
The second reading "Accident, Mass. Ave.", a poem by Jill McDonough is about what happened every day in Mass. Ave.in Boston. The main message was about people's reactions when face with a minor accident. for example the narrator being agitated about the incident before even knowing the damages, which is a bit exaggerated. The author was also straight to the point. That's perhaps how the people from Boston are. Although the beginning of the poem was tense, both party has a happy ending
